Board of Water & Light Installed LED Lighting Turned On

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) The community gathered Tuesday evening to be present for the official unveiling of the decorative LED lighting underneath the US-127 bridge overpass along the Michigan Avenue corridor. The lights, which illuminate the bridge in dozens of optional color variations, brings another phase of the crowd-funded Under the Bridge Project to life.

TheraB Medical to Advance to National Semifinal Round

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) is excited to announce the winner of the local InnovateHER business pitch competition, TheraB Medical. LEAP partnered with the Lansing area Tech Thursday networking group to host a local event in conjunction with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)'s InnovateHER Challenge. The event, held yesterday evening at the EAST Lansing Technology and Innovation Center (TIC), was the third local InnovateHER Challenge competition LEAP has spearheaded in the region, in as many years.

The InnovateHER Innovating for Women Business Challenge is targeted at local entrepreneurs and innovators whose products and services better the lives of women and families. Winners of local InnovateHER competitions are eligible to enter a nationwide business competition that brings top local winners from across the nation together.

Escapade VR the Newest Business to be “Hatched” Through LEAP

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) is excited to announce the winner of the May Hatching event, Andrez Chuney with his idea Escapade VR. Escapade VR is an app that allows students to job shadow and experience different career paths in virtual reality to find their ideal careers. Chuney joins 54 winners and 388 ideas submitted throughout the history of The Hatching.

Celebrating its fourth anniversary this June, LEAP’s Hatching is part of a community-wide effort to support local entrepreneurs and make the Lansing region a great place to start a business. Each month, participants submit business and product ideas through The Hatching’s online portal, where the public subsequently votes forward up to five top ideas. The owners of the top five ideas then have a chance to pitch in front of a live audience and panel of judges.

The Runway Signs Five New Fashion Designers as Alumnus Grows

LANSING, MI – The Runway is pleased to announce the addition of five new fashion designers to the incubator, and some major accomplishments of a Runway alumnus. The Runway Lansing, funded by the Lansing Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), was created in 2014 as Michigan’s premiere fashion incubator. The Runway helps aspiring fashion designers produce and move collections to market by providing essential resources such as creative space, education, and programming.

Runway alumnus Lawrence Hunt, continues to grow as it secures a second brand ambassador with New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shephard. Shephard joins Detroit Tigers James McCann in donating 200 Lawrence Hunt shirts to students and veterans who are preparing for new careers. Launched from The Runway, Lawrence Hunt Dress Shirts is best known for designing high-quaility professional dress shirts that keep the wearer cool in the heat or during high stress situations.

LEAP Under the Bridge Project

LANSING, MI – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) is pleased to announce that the highly anticipated Under the Bridge Project will launch into full swing this spring. In conjunction with the project, Lansing-based artist, Brian Whitfield, was commissioned to create four murals on the slopepavings underneath the US-127 bridge overpass along the Michigan Avenue corridor that joins Lansing and East Lansing. In addition, the Lansing Board of Water & Light will install 24 decorative LED lights that will illuminate the bridge.

EAST LANSING, MI — Mayor Mark Meadows and the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) announced a major new mixed-use development proposed for the heart of East Lansing this morning. The development team consisting of East Lansing’s own Ballein Family and the Chicago-based developer, Harbor Bay Real Estate Advisors, are proposing to create the Center City District (CCD) along Albert Avenue, transforming the cultural throughfare of East Lansing’s Downtown into a pedestrian-focused lifestyle destination.
