Invite-Only Meijer Supplier Matchmaking Summit
PURE MICHIGAN BUSINESS CONNECT is seeking Michigan companies that can support the Meijer procurement team.  Meijer, in partnership with Pure Michigan Business Connect, will host an invite-only supplier matchmaking summit in Detroit, Michigan.  Meijer has provided27 unique procurement needs, representing their most urgent sourcing requirements, and are seeking qualified Michigan companies. If you have companies that are interested, have them click the link below to review the needs and complete the application before the priority deadline of August 1st.
Each application received before the deadline will be reviewed, and selections for attendance will be made by Meijer based on data collected in the application. Space for this event is limited, therefore invitations will be sent only to those companies best fit to fill specified needs. Companies applying after the August 1st deadline will only be considered if there are open needs that have not yet been addressed.
Please Note: Completing this application does not automatically confirm participation at the  September 12th summit. All applicants will be informed whether or not they’ve been selected to participate on or before August 21st 2014.

Detroit Three-Pure Michigan Matchmaking Summit
MEDC's Pure Michigan Business Connect partnered with Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors to host an invite-only supplier summit on July 22nd, 2014. The summit featured procurement representatives and subject matter experts from the Detroit Three automakers and over 40 of their tier one partners looking to connect with qualified Michigan companies at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit Michigan.

SBAM's Annual Meeting and Networking Luncheon
The Small Business Association of Michigan Annual Meeting & Networking Luncheon provides SBAM members like you the opportunity to meet with other small business owners and small business supporters to discuss important issues and celebrate small business success in Michigan. The gathering heard from Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer, Secretary of State, Terri Lynn Land and U.S. Rep. Gary Peters, to learn more about important election year issues that could impact small business.
GLEQ Awards Event and Business Plan Competition
Entrepreneurs, investors, educators, mentors and support professionals joined together in Ypsilanti, Michigan June 17th, for the GLEQ Awards Event. They celebrated the growth and success of Michigan’s Entrepreneur Ecosystem.
Including the accomplishments of Michigan Entrepreneurs, cash, micro-loan and event tickets to Michigan Growth Capital Symposium were awarded. The top 20 GLEQ participants presented their ventures in concise two-minute pitches.

2014 Pure Michigan DREAMJOB Summit
Candidates looking to take their career to the next level, or maybe just getting started, attended Pure Michigan DREAMJOB 2014. MEDC, the Michigan Economic Development Corp. hosted Michigan’s largest ever matchmaking summit to bring Michigan employers with job openings together with skilled and talented people from across the state and around the nation.

Pure Michigan DREAMJOB took place at Ford Field in Detroit, June 13, with many of the state’s leading businesses looking to meet with job candidates using an innovative matchmaking format.

Over 140 Michigan employers from across the state sought to fill more than 1100 positions through an innovative matchmaking format that pairs qualified candidates with available job openings.
The Big M / Manufacturing Convergence --- Detroit
THE BIG M an extraordinary gathering of industry professionals, manufacturers and policymakers with the shared vision of applying our best thinking to our most complex manufacturing challenges gathered for 4 days at the COBO Center in Detroit, Michigan. It was not about starting a discussion rather about finding real-world solutions by harnessing the collective knowledge of manufacturers across industries.

Entrepreneurs Engage
Entrepreneurs Engage was an invitation-only event which brought together a diverse group of entrepreneurs and investors, with the understanding that, from event to event, participants will rotate in and out. The gathering had participants ranging through successful, established technology entrepreneurs and venture investors, along with new entrepreneurs, and visionary leaders working in non-tech areas.

Here participants learn of the second break-out session of topics while at U-M North Campus Research Complex, Tuesday evening June 10th.
Telematics Detroit 2014
A national and international gathering converged upon Novi, Michigan, for two days in early June. Telematics Detroit is the world's largest forum dedicated to the future of connected auto mobility. With over 2000 senior attendees and 100+ industry leading speakers it will address the crucial tech. and business questions shaping telematics as connectivity enables a new paradigm for auto mobility.
This year's theme: Connectivity Enables a New Paradigm for Auto Mobility.

Mackinac Policy Conference 2014
The Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2014 Mackinac Policy Conference was held May 27 to 30, 2014. This year, the Conference will once took place at the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

The three Conference pillars were Entrepreneurship, STEM Education, and Impact. Speakers were statewide and national in scope gathering business, nonprofit and government sectors to focus on issues impacting Michigan today and shaping its future.

Ann Arbor SPARK Annual Meeting
Ann Arbor SPARK's 3rd Annual Meeting and Luncheon, featured a presentation by Business Leaders for Michigan. Nigel Francis, Senior Automotive Advisor to the State of Michigan and senior vice president, Automotive Industry Office, Michigan Economic Development Corporation also spoke to the gathering held in Ann Arbor, Michigan in mid-May 2014.

2014 Michigan Celebrates Small Business
Over 800 from the business community of Michigan gathered at the Breslin Center in East Lansing for the 2014 Michigan Celebrates Small Business event, celebrating its tenth anniversary. Small business owners and supporters come from all across the state to show their support for the winners and support Michigan’s growing companies.
Michigan Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Small Business Administration (SBA), Michigan District Office Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) and Small Business Advocate Chris Holman coordinate this effort.

2014 Michigan Business Network Strategic Business Luncheon
This year's guest speaker was the nationally recognized automotive expert, Dr. David E. Cole, Chairman Emeritus, Center for Automotive Research and Chairman, Auto Harvest. Cole, an engineer who holds a doctorate from the University of Michigan and a well known authority on auto industry trends will speak to our audience on the present state of the automotive industry and its future.

Global Business Conference 2014
The Global Business Development Firm offered a conference to help small business prepare for a Global Market, giving a Cultural and Financial perspective on business development. Speakers at the two day event at the Lansing Center in Lansing, MI, included a U.N. Ambassador, Ambassador to Ghana, Honorary Consulate of Turkey, and Senior Trade Commissioner and Consul General of Canada.

Summary of Findings: Michigan’s small to mid-sized businesses remain optimistic on the state economy and future business in Michigan. A growing number of businesses expect profits, sales, wages and number of jobs to increase over the next six months. Businesses are increasingly concerned about finding skilled workers to fill open positions. Some are dealing with this by investing in employee training.

MLBA Announces Endorsements for Michigan Legislative Candidates
After much consideration, the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association (MLBA) is proud to announce its endorsement of candidates for the upcoming state election in November. The MLBA was founded in 1939 and represents approximately 1,800 liquor licensees - from bars and restaurants to hotels, golf courses, and convenience stores. Our mission is to improve the business climate for our members by playing a proactive role with the legislative process, public safety entities and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
