The Right Place 2015 Economic Outlook for Western Michigan / Stop #6 on Michigan Economic Forecast Series
The 18th annual regional economic and employment forecast was held December 16, 2014 at the JW Marriott of Grand Rapids. Birgit Klohs, President and CEO , The Right Place, delivered a 2014 in Review report, while George Erickcek, Senior Regional Analyst, W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research provided a 2015 Economic Forecast.

Lansing Economic Forecast / Stop #5 on Michigan Economic Forecast Series
2014's Lansing Economic Forecast was held Thursday December 11, 2014, at Eagle Eye Golf Course, Bath, Michigan. It brought together the Mid-Michigan business community to hear a review of 2014, and a forecast for 2015, from LEAP, the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, Bob Trezise, Michigan State University Economics Department's Charles Ballard, The Greater Lansing Chamber of Commerce, Tim Daman, Greater Lansing Visitors & Convention Bureau Jack Schripsema, CTA. Michael Britt, Accident Fund Insurance Company of America underwriter of the Michigan Future Business Index discussed the findings of that newly released index.

Detroit Regional Chamber State of the Region 2014 / Stop #4 Michigan Economic Forecast Series
Over 400 gathered for the annual briefing on the Detroit Regional Chamber's work in economic development. This Wednesday December 10th event also focused on regional collaboration, education reform and membership value. The State of the Region offered an analysis of the economic indicators related to business growth, talent, innovation and international commerce for Southeast Michigan. It highlighted assets, rankings and opportunities for the automotive, aerospace and defense, healthcare, transportation, distribution and logistics industries.

Each fall, the Traverse City Area Chamber presents the Economic Outlook Breakfast to highlight trends, speak to issues affecting the economy, and garner wisdom from economic experts to look ahead at the emerging business climate. Lake Superior Community Partnership Quarterly Luncheon / Stop #2 on Michigan Economic Forecast Series
Chris Holman, CEO, Michigan Business Network presented the Michigan Future Business Index from this past June and details on the release of Decembers report. Holman, along with Amy Clickner, LSCP CEO, Pat Black, Marquette County Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director and Tawni Ferrarini, Professor, NMU Department of Economics, will also discuss economic outlook for 2015.

Great Lakes Bay Regional Chamber Summit - Partners in Growth / Stop #1 on Michigan Economic Forecast Series
The 3rd Annual Great Lakes Bay Regional Chamber Summit took place in Saginaw Township, MI, October 27th. The event was a regional collaboration of the Bay Area, Midland Area, Mt. Pleasant Area and Saginaw County Chambers of Commerce. It also served as stop #1 for Michigan Business Network's statewide Michigan Economic Forecast Series. A former three-term governor of Michigan, Engler has also served as President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers.
CATALYST: Capital Region Prosperity Project
Capital Region Prosperity Project cames to the Lansing Center October 21, 2014. At the full-day regional prosperity summit, leaders in Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties explored innovative strategies for sparking lasting regional growth. High impact speakers, facilitated discussions, networking, and action planning culminated in a community based agenda for strengthening the entire Capital region.
Featured speakers included Governor Rick Snyder and others collaborated with participants to answer key questions impacting Michigan's Capital Region.

MICHIGAN MATCHMAKING SUPPLIER SUMMIT
Business Leaders for Michigan (BLM) and MEDC’s Pure Michigan Business Connect office partnered on an invitation-only supplier summit October 8, 2014, at the Lansing Center which brought together over 1500. The goal of the event was to help businesses and universities identify Michigan-based suppliers to meet their procurement needs.
The summit featured purchasing representatives and subject matter experts from some of the largest and most influential businesses and universities in Michigan, all of which are interested in keeping their supply chains local.

Port Lansing’s 2014 Global Logistics Conference
This biennial event offered businesses expert advice on international commerce. With exports by Michigan companies at an all-time high, Capital Region International Airport’s Port Lansing is preparing to offer expert advice on how area companies can capitalize on the trend at its 2014 World Trade Global Logistics Conference.

Meeting of the Minds Detroit
Detroit is now at a tipping point. At one time this boomtown saw nothing but prosperity in its economic future. Now, the city’s government has declared bankruptcy and city residents are being forced by their circumstances to redefine the city. It’s not an easy thing to reimagine a city’s identity, business models, and urban future. But hope still prevails and new innovations are quickly emerging in Detroit. Meeting of the Minds chose Detroit as the site for its 2014 annual convening; bringing together 350 invited leaders, from more than a dozen countries, representing the public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Here one of the breakout tours is being conducted at the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education, part of Detroit's College for Creative Studies. They are learning about technical advancements being put forth by Toyota, North America.

MICHauto Summit
The Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce gathered a Summit at the Cobo Center to look under the hood of the new era of Michigan innovation and the blueprint it provides for the rest of the global automotive industry. This year’s Summit included programming steering discussion on the outlook on design, engineering, manufacturing and all things automotive. It was also the event unveiling the latest Michigan is AUTO report, released jointly with MEDC's Pure Michigan. 

Here Ralph Gilles, President and CEO, Motorsports, Chrysler Group, LLC; Senior Vice President, Product Design, Chrysler Group delivers the morning address, "In Demand: Delivering State-of-the-Art Design" from the stage in Ballroom B of the Cobo Center.
Michigan Israeli Business Bridge Ambassador Awards Dinner
The Michigan Israel Business Bridge held their first Ambassador Awards Dinner, Thursday September 18, 2014. MIBB is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote business, investment, and research opportunities. The organization is a resource for economic development between Michigan and Israel. MIBB will bestow two awards during the dinner.

The Bridge Builder Award to General Dynamics Land Systems was accepted by Donald Schenk, vice president, International Tank Programs. General Dynamics Land Systems is a global designer, development, production, support and enhancement of tracked and wheeled military vehicles for the United States and international markets.
