LEAP Accepting Applications for $11 Million Ingham County Sunrise Small Business Grant Program

(June 28, 2021) — The Ingham County Sunrise Small Business Grant Program created by Ingham County in April 2021 using $11 million from the county’s first tranche of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds will provide working capital grants to eligible Ingham County small businesses and nonprofits. The Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) was selected to administer the program on behalf of Ingham County.

LANSING, Mich. — In April 2021, Ingham County took action to assist small businesses negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and allocated $11 million from the county’s first tranche of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds to create the Ingham County Sunrise Small Business Grant Program. The county selected the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) to design and administer the program, focusing on the short- and long-term economic effects of COVID-19 in Ingham County.

Grant Seeks to Strategically Align Regional Partners and Create Top MedTech Hub

LANSING, Mich. (June 7, 2021) – The Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s (LEAP) efforts to transform and connect a vital and growing regional industry cluster into one of the nation’s top 20 medical technology ecosystems is taking a significant step forward with support from a U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant. The project work funded through the grant is expected to create 560 jobs, retain 65 jobs, and attract $425 million in private investment.

Flint Water Festival Partners With EPA’s WaterSense® Program to Promote Water
Efficiency

FLINT, Mich. (March 22, 2021) - Flint Water Festival has teamed with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) WaterSense program to help consumers and businesses save water for future generations and reduce costs on their utility bills. WaterSense aims to decrease indoor and outdoor water use through water-efficient products and water-saving practices. The program encourages customers to look for WaterSense labeled products, which are independently certified to use 20 percent less water and perform as well as or better than standard models. WaterSense also promotes water-saving techniques and practices that reduce stress on water supplies.

Businesses Directly Impacted by December 2020 State Mask Mandate Receive Grant Funds

LANSING, Mich. (Feb. 17, 2021) — Following a statewide announcement from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) announced 194 small businesses and nonprofits from across Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties received $15,000 survival grants to alleviate impacts from the state Health Department December 2020 Gatherings and Mask Order. From the 1,045 eligible applications in the Lansing region, our region received only enough funding to support approximately 18% of the applicants.
