(Jan. 12, 2021) — The Shyft Group, Inc., formerly Spartan Motors, is ramping up hiring at its Charlotte campus with plans to add hundreds of new jobs to help the commercial fleet and specialty vehicle manufacturer meet fleet vehicle demand in 2021. Shyft’s expansion project will bring an influx of new individuals, families and economic activity to Charlotte and the surrounding Lansing region, including new students in K-12 schools, revenue for municipal services, shoppers to downtown retailers, new neighbors and homeowners and additional philanthropic giving to support community needs.

(Cameron Ashley), a leading distributor of specialty building products, will open its newest distribution center at 3524 S. Canal Street in Delta Township. Cameron Ashley serves over 5,000 customers across 42 locations throughout the United States, and brings customer-focused, innovative services and products to the Lansing region’s untapped market. Cameron Ashley currently employs nearly 550 staff companywide, and intends to hire three to five full-time employees in the first year at the Delta Township operation.

Mural by Artist Kelly Beacome funded by LEAP Public Art Grant with Support from PNC Foundation
WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (Nov. 16, 2020) – A warm welcome now greets all visitors as they enter the heart of downtown Williamston. The new building mural, titled Welcome, was funded by a $10,000 grant from the Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s (LEAP) Public Art for Communities (PAFC) grant program, with support from the PNC Foundation. Welcome is the latest piece of permanent public art funded by the PAFC program. Kelly Beacome of Center Street Studios was chosen by the city of Williamston Art Committee to bring the west wall of 151 S. Putman St. to life.

Regional Geographic Distribution, Economic Impact and Inclusion-Minded Process Drove Complex Grant Awards
