Gateway to Inclusion Sculpture Transforms First Impression of Lansing Region for Global Audience

LANSING, Mich. – Home to an international airport hub, the Lansing region is a portal to the state of Michigan for people and businesses from across the world. Tuesday, a new impressive public art piece was unveiled along Capital City Boulevard dramatically improving a critical first impression gateway to the Lansing region, welcoming travelers and residents alike. The nearly quarter million dollar installation, “Gateway to Inclusion,” was led by Peckham in partnership with the Capital Region International Airport and was funded by many private and public partners including a grant from the Lansing Economic Area Partnership’s (LEAP) Public Art for Communities (PAFC) grant program in partnership with PNC Foundation.

Capitol Avenue Project Could Take Major Step Forward

LANSING, Mich. – A key redevelopment project situated in the heart of downtown Lansing could be taking a major step forward next week. The brownfield plan for the 500 Block Project, a two-parcel project comprised of properties at 501 S Capitol Avenue and 502 S Washington Avenue will be received by the Lansing City Council for consideration Monday, Sept. 23.

“Repurposing the Lake Trust parcel in the south end of downtown is an important revitalization effort. Creating new housing and business opportunities will be tremendous for Cherry Hill and downtown neighborhoods. We look forward to working on getting this done,” said Andy Schor, Mayor of Lansing.

Clinton Avenue building (Higham Street side); a prominent intersection in downtown St Johns. Exploding with colorful whimsy the mural captures the intrinsic value of St Johns, including elements such as the popular Mint Festival and St. Johns’ redwing blackbird mascot.

With $240,000 from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s (MEDC) new Site Readiness Improvement grant program, the Lansing region is armed with another proactive business attraction tool.
