Former Sparrow Hospice Leader Receives St. Johns Kiwanis Award for a Lifetime of Care

LANSING, MI – The recently retired director of Sparrow Hospice Services will be honored Thursday by St. Johns Kiwanis 707 Club for a lifetime of work to improve end-of-life care in Clinton County and throughout mid-Michigan.

Michele Wiseman, of St. Johns, will receive the Terry Cornwell Human and Spiritual Values award for “dedication to God and for outstanding contributions to the spiritual life and welfare of the community.” The award is named for a beloved teacher and counselor at St. Johns High School who died in 2005 at age 58 after battling diabetes for many years. Wiseman will be honored at a banquet held from 6-8 p.m. at the Emerald Golf Course in St. Johns.

Nationally, $18 Million Set to Promote Small Business Global Trade 

DETROIT – The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that $18 million in funding has been awarded to 47 State international trade agencies through SBA’s competitive State Trade Expansion Program (STEP), to support export growth among U.S. small businesses. In Michigan, the $1,066,666 award will support export development for eligible small business concerns (ESBCs) through financial assistance awards for trade missions, international sales trips and trade shows along with export legal trainings. MSF plans on supporting 226 ESBCs, with anticipated export sales totaling $113.3 million.
