Cinnaire Cares Announces Donations

We have an unwavering belief that all people deserve the opportunities provided by living in healthy communities.

The Cinnaire Cares initiative is a companywide staff-funded and driven charitable program that was developed by our employees.  Cinnaire Cares provides an opportunity for our team to support our mission by contributing twice monthly to a fund that has been established to support staff nominated charities. In addition to financial contributions, Cinnaire staff are actively involved in volunteering their personal time to support our non-profit partners. We are excited to announce the latest Cinnaire Cares donations! In this funding round, our staff contributed a total of $5,480. Each non-profit selected this round will receive $1,096.

MEDC Names Doug Kuiper as New Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced today that Doug Kuiper has been appointed senior vice president of marketing and communications for the organization. In his new role, Kuiper will lead MEDC’s communication strategy and execution of marketing initiatives, including the state’s Pure Michigan tourism campaign and PlanetM mobility campaign, and serve as a key liaison to stakeholder groups and state and local partners. He begins his new position July 2.

Satisfaction with Economy Hits All-Time High Among Small Business Owners According to Michigan Future Business Index

LANSING, Mich., June 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The latest Michigan Future Business Index (MFBI) data show that more than eight-in-ten small to mid-sized business owners in the state are satisfied with the economy. Satisfaction is strongest in Lansing (86 percent) and Saginaw/Bay City/Flint (85 percent). 

Nearly 43 percent of all respondents said wages have increased over the past six months, a seven-point rise over the December 2017 survey.  Additionally, 38 percent showed a growth in profits, up from 32 percent last December. Hiring remained flat, as did sales growth.

As we head to the mid-way point of 2018 (can you believe it?) I thought it was a great time to review the activities of the LSCP and its partners from the first half of the year. 

Kicking off the year, we held our Annual Meeting and Annual Dinner. The meeting is a more formal event with organizational business being held. We were able to share a presentation celebrating 20 years of economic development success and we recognized outgoing Chairman Dennis Smith while welcoming Chairman Brett French. This meeting is not just for the board of directors, but rather open to all investors of the LSCP.

We know there are many golf outings over the course of the summer and are thankful our partners and the community continue to prioritize and support ours. Our goal this year is to raise $14,000, which will go directly toward economic development services that we provide to Marquette County.
