Twenty years ago, I found myself in quite a pickle. I'd been named chief staff executive of Michigan PTA shortly after the previous executive had decided to move the location of our annual conference but hadn't secured a new venue. The meeting was just a few months away, and I really didn't have a clue about associations or hotel contracts, or much of anything really. A supplier stopped by to introduce himself and offered to take me to lunch. I accepted - mainly because I was feeling overwhelmed and just needed someone to talk to. I'm quite sure he got an earful from me that day. Not only did he lend a much-needed listening ear, but he also gave me one piece of advice: call MSAE.

Sailors’ Survival Story to Inspire Association Professionals | ORGPRO 2019

A story of young sailors who survived five days in shark-infested seas will help inspire association leaders at Michigan Society of Association Executive’s annual ORGPRO conference July 17-19 at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, Michigan. 

Doug Stanton, author of the book “In Harm’s Way”, is a keynote speaker who will describe the survival of 316 sailors after the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

Held annually in February, the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ Legislative and Public Policy Conference is recognized as Lansing’s first major legislative event of the year. This well respected event features new leadership visions, policy issues, pundit commentaries and candidate debates and serves as the premiere legislative conference dedicated to the association community.

The afternoon of programming is followed by one of the best attended Legislative Receptions including guests from the Michigan House and Senate, Supreme Court, Governor's office and various state departments.
