WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI) released the following statement after the Senate passed the national security supplemental package with bipartisan support. The legislation provides aid to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and civilians in Gaza and Ukraine. It also includes provisions to help stem the flow of fentanyl in the United States and additional funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which helps to protect houses of worship and other nonprofits from security threats. Peters recently spoke on the Senate floor to advocate for passing the legislation.
“Mankind’s greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn’t have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking.”
