MiLEAP and Michigan College Access Network partner to create the Michigan Retired Educator FAFSA Specialists Program
LANSING, Mich. – Today, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) and the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) announced the roll out of the new Michigan Retired Educator FAFSA Specialists (REFS) Program aimed at boosting FAFSA completion and enrollment of adult learners aged 21-24 in Michigan’s community and tribal colleges.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Anderson Economic Group (AEG) today released the results of their analysis on the state of the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in Michigan, finding that the number of charging stations around the state increased significantly in 2023.
AEG found that, as of April 2, 2024, there are currently 311 public DC fast charging stations and 1,141 Level 2 charging stations across Michigan. In 2023, the number of public DC fast charging stations increased by 102, about 52%, over the total of the prior years where there were 196 charging stations. An additional 13 stations came online in early 2024.

Day one of the NFL draft saw record attendance of more than 275,000 fans in downtown Detroit
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The net economic impact of the 2024 NFL draft in downtown Detroit is expected to exceed $165 million, according to updated analysis from economic consulting firm Anderson Economic Group, LLC following record attendance of more than 275,000 unique visitors in downtown Detroit over three days.
AEG found that the draft will have a direct economic impact of $100,146,418 on Detroit, with an estimated $37,746,418 in total expenditures of attendees, after accounting for substitution.
Bee Pick-Up Day is Saturday, May 4
WHAT: A sure sign of spring is when bees from Fremont, Michigan’s, Great Lakes Bee Co.(GLBC), return home after pollinating almond crops in California and rebuilding of hives in Georgia. Upon the arrival of the bees, hundreds of beekeepers from the Great Lakes region will pick up bees to add to their colonies. The annual Bee Pick-Up Day for bee packages, five and nine frame nucs, and queen bees will take place on May 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Great Lakes Bee Company, 5973 S. Over 1,000 Iron Poles to be Installed this Year
JACKSON, Mich., April 29, 2024 – Consumers Energy is introducing yet another new strategy to improve the reliability of the electric grid in Michigan. The energy provider has purchased 1,200 iron utility poles – a $3.5 million investment – to withstand the forces of mother nature and keep overhead power lines securely in place.

LANSING, Mich. — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin road and bridge repair projects in five counties this week including overpass repairs on I-75 in Chippewa County, bridge work on I-475 in Genesee County and M-6/I-96 in Kent County, paving M-45 in Saginaw County and repairs to M-39 in Wayne County.
The Michigan state average is up 12 cents from a week ago
DEARBORN, Mich., (April 29, 2024) - Gas prices in Michigan declined slightly after setting a new 2024-high of $3.72 over the weekend. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.71 per gallon for regular unleaded, which is 12 cents more than this time last week. This price is 17 cents more than this time last month and 19 cents more than this time last year.
