Governor Garlin Gilchrist II kicks off a five-day investment mission in Europe, with a focus on capitalizing on Michigan’s leadership in the defense and aerospace sector. As part of this mission, Michigan is announcing that it is officially joining the Aerospace States Association (ASA), a nonpartisan organization made up of lieutenant governors, governor-appointed delegates, state legislators, and territorial and tribal representatives.

LEO | UIA Phone Services Currently Limited Due to Internet Outage

Due to the recent internet outage caused by CrowdStrike, a Microsoft third-party security application, the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) phone and online chat services are currently limited. Workers are not able to speak or chat online with agents due to the system issues. Technicians are currently working to resolve the issue, with no current resolution time.

Peters Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Grant Tribal Governments Direct Access to FEMA Fire Assistance

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Gary Peters (MI), Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, introduced bipartisan legislation that requires FEMA to accept requests from Tribal governments to receive a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) Declaration. Currently, FEMA can accept Emergency and Major Disaster Declaration requests from Tribal governments, but the agency is not authorized to accept FMAG requests directly from Tribes.

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by two-tenths of a percentage point over the month to 4.1 percent during June, according to data released today by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget. Employment receded by 9,000 over the month, while unemployment rose by 8,000, resulting in an essentially unchanged workforce in June.
