Lansing, MI – The Runway is excited to announce its new phase of virtual accelerator programming, “Accelerating the Runway,” an intense eight-week course pairing fashion entrepreneurs with experts and mentors to quickly elevate their fashion startup. The program is designed to help fashion designers who have a clear idea of their line solidify their business foundation and develop high growth strategies.

As a part of this transformation to a virtual accelerator model, The Runway’s physical space will be wound down, which will better serve The Runway’s many clients, most of whom are virtual already.city of lansing

“For three years, The Runway has successfully worked to position Lansing as a growing fashion industry leader through the development and delivery of original services and programming,” said Lansing Mayor Andy Schor. “On behalf of the City of Lansing, the LEDC welcomes this new model focused on expanding access to a key regional fashion resource, which will continue to nurture the growth of fashion businesses and jobs.”

Accelerating the Runway is a series of workshops covering topics such as: developing a fashion line, fashion law, sales and distribution. The workshops will be hosted weekly in REO Town.

“Lasing’s fashion industry continues to grow and mature and we want to keep the LEDC’s innovative programs at the forefront,” said Joe Carr, managing director of The Runway. “By developing an accelerator model we will continue to create new opportunities for our designers while improving access to experts, mentors, and capital.”

Workshop instructors include industry experts and partners such as: Foster Swift Collins, The Fledge, Brandhrt, and others. During the workshop, participants will have access to industry expertise and equipment to help them grow their business.

“Lansing’s fashion scene is thriving and seeing more activity than ever before,” said LEDC’s Meleena Herring, operations coordinator for The Runway. “We are so excited to welcome a fresh group of fashion entrepreneurs and we look forward to helping them grow their businesses here in Lansing.”

leap-2Accelerating the Runway participants will have the option to purchase a ticket for one workshop or the entire eight-week course. Tickets start at $100 with seating limited to ten.
