Taylor Kelsaw welcomes accomplished composer and musician Rodney Page back to Show Biz Weekly to talk about his new EP Inevitable. His jam  'Summer Vibin' fits right in to the "vibe" of McCoy Tyner, Gerald Albright, and then he brings to life a sound of presence that is filled with joy "HIS GRACE HIS GLORY", a revelation, and a legacy written to be shared over and over again, and beautifully arraigned too.

Rodney is a creative and classically trained violinist and pianist and has accrued thousands of hours of performance experience in diverse venues. His unique and energetic style, whether as a performer or DJ, has touched audiences for more than 15 years. His clear concept of music is evident in his artistry. This time the music is his own and sounds you will hear are his visions of what it means to leave behind hope and a legacy for his children.

With the support and love of his wife, and two kids, Page has been able to stay in the music world as well as utilize his pedagogical skills as a teacher. Rodney’s skill and accomplishments in the classroom were acknowledged in 2006 when he was designated District V Orchestra Teacher of the Year by the Michigan Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA). His reputation as an educator—not just a music educator—was recognized in 2002 when he was named a Fulbright Memorial Fund recipient.

He has traveled to Japan to study the country’s educational system and culture. Growing up in Southfield, Michigan, Page and his brother Reginald, learned music early and stuck with it. Rodney credits his brother’s early love of the music as his influence for taking it up also.

Page’s professional affiliations as a violinist include the Midland Symphony Orchestra (7 years), Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra (4 years), and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra (1 year). He has also performed as a guest artist with several other community orchestras and was invited to be a guest conductor with the Menendes University Chamber Orchestra in Turkey. He also holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music education, from Michigan State University

rodney2-1.jpgSegment 5 includes an exclusive live performance of "A SONG FOR KIMBERLY" that will surely teach you how to love... Page has since turned his attention to providing entertainment services as a freelance musician and DJ, presenting unique and innovative shows. His repertoire includes violin, piano, and vocal percussion. He often enhances his recorded music with live instrumentation. His music library encompasses Top 40; 70s, 80s, and 90s; disco; techno; jazz; R&B; and other popular genres. Rodney has performed at variety of clubs in mid- and northern Michigan as well as at weddings, private parties, social events, and business functions.

During college Page embraced contemporary music, especially hip-hop and its focus on improvisation. He began experimenting with vocal percussion; in 2000 he won first place in Lansing’s “Keepin’ It Real” talent show where he beatboxed his way to a $1,000 prize.

This exposure led to engagements in metropolitan Detroit and Lansing, including performances for high profile sports and political figures.

Rodney made his national television debut on Showtime at the Apollo in 2002. His performance, consists of a unique mix of hip-hop, jazz, and classical music and had the crowd on its feet!
