As Steve Purdy was wrapping up his stroll around the SAE show floor for he ran across these talented and enthusiastic lads from the University of Maine Clean Snowmobile Club - Cameron Dick, Mitchell Burgess and Eric Stuckey - who are in the process of engineering a snowmobile fueled by CNG (compressed natural gas) and hydrogen.
Focused on making a cleaner snow machine that would not be such a noisy, smoking vehicle for touring national parks in winter, the fellas describe some of the challenges they face. It’s nice to know we have such talented young engineers at the show.
