Chris Holman talks with Renee Roth, Director of Human Resources at Dewpoint and a CAMW! Success story of the month. She explains how Dewpoint recentally moved to the Lansing area providing services and solutions that help organizations solve business challenges with technology.

They then follow-up on Capital Comeback which is a talent attraction and retention event aimed to connect folks with the opportunities available in the capital region. Community partners were hard at work encouraging Michiganders to move home to the region they know and love.

On Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 6-8 p.m., former Michiganders home for the Thanksgiving holiday attended a contemporary networking event at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. Local employers showcased what they can offer to Michiganders ready to come home. Employers included AF Group, Sparrow Health System, Dewpoint, Neogen, MSU Federal Credit Union, Michigan State University IT Services, NuWave Technology Partners, C2AE, TechSmith, Rocket Fuel and Randstad Technologies.

Capital Comeback was a collaboration of local businesses and councils coming together to showcase the capital area, some of Lansing’s best employers. As a result, it created a casual networking event for folks to learn about the personal and professional opportunities this area has to offer. One attendee noted that “I moved to Flint a few years ago. When I told my mom I was coming home for Thanksgiving, she encouraged me to check out Capital Comeback. I’m excited to talk to employers and see if moving back to Lansing is the right fit for me. By the looks of it, a lot has changed for the better!”

People really are starting to see that Lansing is changing and there are plenty of opportunities right here in Mid-Michigan. Take note from the Capital Area IT Council. The CAITC consults with employers and regularly monitors the various job boards—and has found that there are consistently 500+ IT openings at any given time in the tri-county area. Often, there are upwards of 900 jobs available in the capital region. From health care to manufacturing, there are always jobs to fill.
