Shirley Hyde Receives Leonard Peters Lifetime Achievement Award

Shirley Hyde, Leonard Peters Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Joined by Capital Area Michigan Works! CEO Edythe Hatter-Williams talk to Chris Holman on this segment of Michigan Business Beat.

At this year’s Capital Area Michigan Works! annual meeting, Shirley Hyde received the Leonard Peters Lifetime Achievement Award. Leonard Peters served on the Capital Area Michigan Works! Administrative Board from 1985 to 2008 as an Eaton County Commissioner, a commitment spanning more than two decades of board service. During that time he provided invaluable leadership, counsel and support to the organization. Leonard served as an officer 12 times during his tenure on the board, including five separate year-long terms as board chair.

In 2008, the Leonard Peters Lifetime Achievement Award was established in recognition of those who have given a lifetime of outstanding service to Capital Area Michigan Works! Past recipients of the award include Leonard Peters himself, David Hollister, Larry Martin, Edith Suttles, Doug Stites and Jane Doty.

Shirley joined the Capital Area Michigan Works! board in 1992 – 25 years ago. While serving, she has participated on the Accountability Committee, reviewing and understanding contractor and program performance. She has read through countless proposals, completing scoring sheets, listening through presentations and working with staff to ensure our programs are the best they can be. She has provided her counsel, insights and perspective the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. for decades and has worked tirelessly to support Capital Area Michigan Works! and our mission.
