At Noon Tuesday January 7, 2020 — The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan, Michigan legislators and regional ecumenical leaders called the community together to offer support for Congressman John Lewis, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

While battling this stage four diagnosis with cancer Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights leader who worked shoulder-to-shoulder with and was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is slated to be the keynote speaker for the 35th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Luncheon.
The luncheon is Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Lansing Center, 333 Michigan Ave. hosted by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan in tribute to the inspiring civil rights leader. This year’s theme is “There Comes a Time When Silence is Betrayal,” a Dr. King quote.
