Traveling like the Jetsons will soon be a reality. Urban air travel is closer than we can imagine. By 2025 Lillium hopes to roll out its electric-powered Jet capable of vertical take-off and landing with top speeds of 190 mph. Electric powered turbo fans allow for a much quieter flying experience than conventional gas-powered air vehicles.  The vehicle is described as “highly nimble” meaning it can traverse corridors between buildings or bridges safely. The project is still in prototype phase with pilot testing starting as early as next year.

Segment 2
Women headed to front lines of cybersecurity
https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2018/03/19/women-headed-to-frontlines-in-cybersecurity.html

More companies are seeking diverse candidates for security leadership positions.  Women comprise only 11% of the cybersecurity workforce.  The cybersecurity industry is growing exponentially with a projected workforce gap of 1.8 million cybersecurity jobs by 2022.  Women will play a huge role in filling this gap. More should be done from an educational standpoint to steer more women towards the IT industry.  STEM Technology, Math, and Science programs have helped, but more can be done.

760-mph Hyperloop transit system considers Detroit-Chicago route
http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2018/02/hyperloop.html?ath=fc0c8a8bbc92f25ac26ddd140d05d583#cmpid=nsltr_herostrybutton_single

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has contacted MDOT for a potential hyperloop stop in the Detroit area with services from Detroit to Chicago.  The Hyperloop is a conceptual high-speed transportation system originally put forward by entrepreneur Elon Musk, incorporating reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules ride on an air cushion driven by linear induction motors and air compressors.  Imagine a superfast floating train within a tube.  Hyperloop capsules can travel up to 760 miles per hour.  Imagine, boarding a capsule in Detroit and arriving in downtown Chicago within 30 minutes.

https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/19/17027902/google-verily-ai-algorithm-eye-scan-heart-disease-cardiovascular-risk

Google’s algorithm continues to evolve.  Scientist from Google and its health-tech subsidiary have discovered a new way to assess a person’s risk of heart disease using machine learning.  By analyzing scans of the back of a patient’s eye, the company’s software is able to accurately deduce data, including an individual’s age, blood pressure, and whether or not they smoke.
