TechnologyComcast plans to offer higher-speed residential Internet service – to about 1.5 million homes in Michigan markets by next month.

The service, called Gigabit Pro, will offer speeds of up to 2 gigabits-per-second. Comcast plans to offer this service in Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids, Jackson, and Lansing.

Customers with the 2-gigabits-per-second service should be able to download a high-definition movie in about 12 seconds, or a 30-minute TV show in 2 seconds.
