After the untimely death of her father Dick Cunningham in December 2014, Sue Cunningham has taken over the family answering service, Cunningham Communications, and plans to grow the Grand Rapids business 50% over the next five years. As the only child, Sue Cunningham is now a woman-business owner of the longest, locally-owned answering service and call center in Grand Rapids, dating back to 1989. At a time of instantaneous communications, a telephone answering service still matters, Sue Cunningham says. An often-cited Forbes Magazine report, says 80 percent of callers will hang up if they hear voice mail instead of a live person answering the phone.  Sue brings her 13 years’ experience with the company, answering calls while working her way through Aquinas College, to maintaining the family legacy of personal service. Cunningham is available to comment on her company’s growth plans and why a personal touch still matters in this high-tech, high-speech business world.
