Edythe Hatter-Williams of Capital Area Michigan Works! joins Chris Holman for an in studio interview discussing how CAMW! is proud to join Google to bring Grow with Google, a two-day event to help job seekers, small businesses, students, teachers and entrepreneurs improve their digital skills to Lansing, MI.

Grow with Google is being held at Lansing Community College’s Gannon Building on March 9 and 10. Workshops run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday (for educators).

All workshops are no cost to participants.

1-on-1 coaching with Google staff, or Googlers as they call themselves, is also available. Stop by the registration desk at the event for details.

This event is only the third of its kind in the nation and is a part of a Google initiative to help create economic opportunities for Americans.

Through Grow with Google, our whole community will have access to hands-on workshops with Google staff on topics such as coding, job search strategies, email basics, online safety and search engine optimization. The second day’s activities will be specifically designed for educators.

Our Capital Area IT Council is also a partner in the effort. The IT skills shortage has been widely discussed, and we have a dramatic mismatch between many of our community’s unemployed individuals and the needs of business. In two days, with Google’s free programming, we have the opportunity to not only help fill that gap for businesses by growing the digital skills of job seekers, but we also have the opportunity to help educators.

Information is also available at our American Job Centers in Lansing, Charlotte or St. Johns.

Capital Area Michigan Works! offers services in Ingham, Clinton and Eaton counties at our Lansing, St. Johns and Charlotte American Job Centers.
