Big Ol' Barn Sale - Continuing a Legacy

Party @ MI Place
October 13, 2015 1:30 PM

EntertainmentSue Bila is joined by Sean King, Sue Bila talks with Phil Smith about the Big Ol' Barn Sale held at the Midland Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 3. In addition to the Indoor Antique Flea Market, there was a special interest auto show in memory of Phil's Dad, The Hugh A. Smith Memorial Car Show!

It was open to all special interest vehicles. Hugh promoted Car Shows, Antique Shows and Swap Meets since the 1960's, in many areas including, Lansing, Detroit, Mt. Pleasant, Saginaw and Midland. Phil is trying to carry on this tradition, by starting up The Big Ol' Barn Sale. He worked with his dad for over thirty years doing every job imaginable with his events (including the famous Michigan Antique Festival) and helping work with the MFEA over the years.

Phil's goal is to put on Antique Flea Markets and Car Shows in Midland and other areas of the state. Hugh was a positive, driving force in the festival promotion business and Phil has learned from him. Phil plans on keeping his Dad, Hugh's memory alive in the events that he promotes.

Party @ MI Place, hosted by MFEA, reviews festivals and events from around Michigan, looks ahead to upcoming events, and highlights people in the festivals and events industry who are making a difference in Michigan’s economy.
