The Michigan Governor Rick Snyder (R) and Mayor of Lansing Virg Bernero (D)have traveled throughout China and met with numerous ranking officials promoting Michigan. Now comes Beijing promoting China to Michigan with great interest in future tourism cooperation, business partnerships and a burst of new jobs for the State. Most Chinese know New York City, Boston, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Houston, but, not many know Michigan, and Lansing, its Capital.

May 7th, was the day the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development attended the Michigan Celebrates Small Business conference in Lansing. Two of the Commission's goals are to promote tourism and business opportunities both for the City of Beijing and the high tech area known as Beijing Zhong Guan. There are nearly 1000 Michigan based guests attended and a May 6, 2015 VIP reception of 200 guests at the Governor’s residence.

To most US visitors to China, Beijing is largely unknown except for the iconic Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. How to provide more helpful information and better serve US tourists has become one of the major concerns of Commission research and promotions. Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development will also conduct survey research focusing on US potential Tourists in order to serve them better in the near future.

Beijing has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites including besides the foregoing the Summer Palace, the Ming Tombs, the Zhoukoudian, and the Grand Canal. As the capital of the People's Republic of China and the nation's political, cultural, and educational center, the city is renowned for its opulent temples, parks and gardens, its tombs, walls and gates, and its art treasures and universities. Less well known are its amazing recreation and tech opportunities. The May 7th, conference Michigan Celebrates Small Business provided insight in multiple areas.
