The entire city will glow with thousands of lights for the Silver Bells in the City celebration, bringing together family and friends from across the state of Michigan and beyond to kick-off the holiday season.

Silver Bells in the City is a Lansing tradition that is loved by generations of families. Silver Bells in the City attracts over 80,000 people to the Capital City each year and takes place annually on the Friday before Thanksgiving in Lansing, Michigan.

Silver Bells in the City is presented by the Lansing Board of Water and Light and the City of Lansing and is coordinated by a dedicated Coordinating Committee under the direction of Downtown Lansing Inc. Silver Bells in the City is produced with the assistance of many passionate volunteers and remains free to all through the support of almost one hundred area sponsors along with assistance from the State of Michigan and City of Lansing.

Silver Bells Village
5:00-9:00 pm

The Silver Bells Village is the perfect place to start your holiday shopping, get some refreshments and purchase your 2016 Silver Bells commemorative ornament. The Village is located on the 100 E. Block of Allegan Street between South Washington Square and Grand Avenue. 

20th Annual Electric Light Parade
Steps off at 6:00 pm

Corner at Lenawee and S. Washington Sq. 

Bring the whole family to enjoy the Electric Light Parade. More than 70 units all decked out with thousands of lights, local High School Marching Bands, horse drawn carriages, the arrival of Santa and more! The parade is brought to you by IBEW Local #665 and NECA.

Community Sing
Approximately 7:35 pm

The Steiner Chorale will lead the sing. Learn more about the chorale at www.steinerchorale.org

 

Lighting Of The Official State Christmas Tree
Approximately 7:45 pm

The tree lighting takes place in front of the State Capitol.

Fireworks
Approximately 7:50 pm

Enjoy a dazzling fireworks display (weather permitting) over the Capitol dome. 

Live Broadcast
6-8 p.m.

The Silver Bells in the City Electric Light Parade is going to be broadcast LIVE on FOX 47, WKAR and local Comcast Channel 12 from 6-8 p.m.

 

SmithField Live in Concert

8:00 pm at the Lansing Center.

SmithField was founded in 2011 with a dream as big as their home state of Texas. Comprised of vocalists Trey and Jennifer, SmithField took the stage by storn with their memorable music and stunning harmonies. Having grown up together, their on-stage chemistry is undeniably genuine and natural. Mixing the heavily rock influenced background of Trey and the classical country tendencies of Jennifer, SmithField creates a contemporary country sound that's different and compelling. SmithField's sophomore single "Hey Whiskey" made its video world premiere on CMT this fall and is currently on SiriusXM The Highway, Spotify and iTunes.
