09-12-2016: The Minority Small Business Education Series

The Minority Small Business Education Series is a practical overview of essential business topics created for minority and non-minority small businesses operating in recognized Metropolitan Detroit “low to moderate income” neighborhoods. 

The Series is open to all types of businesses that have revenues of $1MM or less annually and have been in operation for not more than 5 years. Business owners are presented with actionable information which will assist them in growing and sustaining their business. They also gained valuable insight into a variety of business subjects. New Detroit is committed to supporting and elevating neighborhood small business in Metropolitan Detroit. The series will begin September 12th, 2016 and will take place each Monday, until October 17th, 2016. Prior registration is required.

The Series topics include:

  • Writing a Business Plan and Marketing - September 12th 
  • Understanding Financial Statements and the Commercial Lending Process - September 19th 
  • Insurance and Bonding - September 26th 
  • Legal Structures, Licensing and Taxation - October 3rd 
  • Business Technology - October 10th 
  • Human Resources/Cultural Competency - October 17th

Event Details

The Series will be held at: Marygrove College, Denk Chapman Hall, Madame Cadillac Building, 8425 W. McNichols, Detroit, MI 48221. Free, secure parking is available next to the Madame Cadillac Building.
