Middle Michigan Development Corporation, The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce, Central Michigan University Research (CMURC), and the Mid Michigan SBDC in collaboration, have teamed up to provide you this inspirational Economic Development story. The once troubled city is now being revitalized with emerging high tech industry, the renovation of historic buildings, the removal of urban blight and the return of jobs and population to Detroit.
ABOUT MIKE DUGGAN
Mike Duggan was elected as Mayor of Detroit on November 5, 2013 and took office on January 1, 2014. As Mayor, he governs the city of his birth and where he spent the previous 32 years of his career collaborating with others to solve some of the city’s most vexing issues. Duggan graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School. He then received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1980, followed by a J.D. degree from its law school in 1983. Duggan is married to Lori Maher, and they have four adult children: Mary, Eddie, Carolyn and Patrick
