LANSING, Mich. – University of Michigan Health will acquire an 11-acre site near Grand Ledge for a new health care center, after recent approval by the U-M Board of Regents.

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow will operate the new ambulatory care center, which is expected to house both primary and specialty care offerings, including radiology and rehabilitation services.

The site is at 5677 E. Saginaw Highway in Oneida Township and is a former CARite car dealership.

“We are committed to serve the patients in the Grand Ledge market, and this new facility will allow us to extend U-M Health’s clinical expertise closer to the patients in this growing community,” said Connie O’Malley, regional chief operating officer, U-M Health.

“This is an important expansion of our statewide network of care and demonstrates our goal of getting the right care at the right time to patients, close to home.”

The Regents approved a purchase price of $1,995,000 for the property, and funding will be provided from U-M Health reserves.

The Regents also approved the sale of several U-M Health Sparrow properties: a two-story office warehouse at 703 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing for $1.25 million; a vacant, single-story medical office building at 320 S. Sterling in Ashley for $30,000; and a vacant single-story office building at 1044 Hayden Road in Muir for $320,000.
