True Community Credit Union Celebrates National Youth Financial Literacy

TRUE Community Credit Union provides new youth opportunities.

JACKSON, MI. April 6, 2021 – TRUE Community Credit Union will celebrate National Youth Financial Literacy Month by awarding youth scholarships and launching a free youth mobile app.

As part of National Youth Financial literacy month, TRUE Community Credit Union awarded four students a $1,000 scholarship each. The applicants submitted an essay and a social media post explaining what they had learned from the TRUE Community Credit Union’s online learning platform.

The recipients of the 2021 Scholarships are:

  • Merritt Baker from Western High School
  • Kathryn Childs from Hanover Horton High School
  • Madelynn Duncan from Northwest High School
  • Katelyn Taylor from Columbia Central High School

TRUE Community Credit Union will introduce the new TRUE Super Saver mobile app. The app is designed specifically for youth to learn about money while using games, lessons, and goal-setting activities. The mobile app is password protected and includes a parent portal.

Chrissy Siders, CEO of TRUE Community Credit Union, stated, “At TRUE Community, we aim to teach youth the importance of how to save, share and spend money wisely while providing many educational opportunities in our communities and with our partners. This work is key to our mission to cultivate legacy-defining moments for the people and places we serve for generations to come. TRUE Community Credit Union is committed to continuing its 30-year tradition of supporting the Partnership in Education program with student-run credit unions serving over 30 schools. TRUE Community values the opportunity to partner with youth across our state.
