Outstanding Sparrow physician receives Athena Young Professional Leadership Award
LANSING, MI – Family medicine physician Shimia Isaac, D.O., MPH, of Sparrow Medical Group (SMG) Lansing has been awarded the 2024 Athena Young Professional Leadership Award from the Lansing/East Lansing chapter of the Links, Inc.
The award recognizes a woman younger than 40 who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in her business or profession, provides valuable service to improve the quality of life for others in her community and clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.
"I am truly humbled and thankful to have been nominated and awarded," said Isaac. "Being a recipient of this award has motivated me to continue being authentic in the care I provide to those in this community but to also do even more with my compassion, skills, creativity, and interests."
“Dr. Isaac goes over and above to provide quality, compassionate care to each one of her patients. She is a respected colleague and I am privileged to share a practice with her,” said Jami Newman, M.D., SMG Lansing practice leader.
Issac completed her postdoctoral training in the Sparrow Hospital Family Medicine Residency program and is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Issac recently received the award at the esteemed White Rose Gala at the Eagle Eye Golf & Banquet Center. The White Rose Gala fosters awareness and support for wellness while also serving as a platform to honor remarkable women like Isaac.
