Sparrow Eaton recognizes caregivers during 20th annual Fulton Awards for excellence

CHARLOTTE, MI – Three caregivers have received Sparrow Eaton Hospital’s highest honors for their exceptional contributions to patient care and the hospital’s success.

The winners of the annual Fulton Awards of Excellence were recognized during a recent ceremony. They are:

  • Charlotte Glover, Patient Specialist, who received the non-clinical service award.
  • Christina Koetsier, Practice Manager of SMG Eaton Rapids, who received the leadership service honor.
  • Kate Reincke, RN, Emergency Department Nurse, who received the clinical service award.

Glover began working at Sparrow Eaton in 2017 and is considered a staple within the registration team, often being the first face a patient sees when entering the hospital doors. According to Glover’s nomination, “in greeting and registering patients, Charlotte consistently sets a calm tone, de-escalating even the most intense situations and emotional patients by radiating compassion and peace.”

“I was very surprised and simultaneously felt great pride receiving the Fulton award,” Glover said. “I love getting to meet and talk to so many different people in my role here and will continue to do my best to uphold the high standards that this recognition represents.”

Koetsier has been employed with Sparrow Eaton for more than 12 years and was nominated by multiple members of her team for her dedication to the practice and servant leadership style. “Christina is a hard-working, true leader who actively listens, exercises empathy and understanding, and holds our team accountable,” her nomination said. “She ensures all aspects of the practice are running above the standard to maintain the highest quality, safety, and patient experience.”

“It’s truly a privilege to receive this award. I work with an amazing team that makes a huge difference in the communities we serve. Being able to help those in need and the patients get access to our care is an honor,” Koetsier said.

Reincke joined the Sparrow Eaton family in July 2018. She was nominated by a fellow caregiver as someone who routinely goes out of her way to help both her patients and peers as well as someone who fosters a fun work environment. Her nomination stated that Kate “always approaches our patients and their families with a tranquil demeanor and readiness to provide care, while simultaneously contributing an uplifting energy to those who work in the emergency department.”

“I am so honored to receive this award and join the ranks of those who have received it prior to me,” said Reincke. “I credit my coworkers and the leadership I have worked with in shaping me into the nurse I am today and always exhibiting the values of the Fulton Award.”

Dozens of caregivers are nominated by peers, patients, and leaders annually for the Fulton Awards. The recognition is based on consistent and outstanding customer service skills; innovation and creativity at work; and willingness to go beyond the call of duty.

The award is named in honor of Robert Fulton for his many contributions as a member of the hospital’s Board of Trustees. He was well known for helping bring to reality the hospital’s dream of offering quality, local care. He took great pride in the annual award ceremony – not because it was named after him, but because he wanted to honor the nominees and recipients and the “excellence radiating through our community hospital.”
