Ford Motor Company has broken ground on a $700M investment in the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center supported by the Michigan Strategic Fund, which will begin production of the electric F-150 in mid-2022 and create 300 new jobs to support the battery assembly and production of the F-150 Power Boost hybrid and fully electric F-150.

The investment comes following the automakers pledge to spend $11.5B to produce over a dozen electrified models by 2022, including the Ford Mach-E electric SUV that is being released at the end of this year. Ford’s investments in EV production also includes a partnership with Volkswagen to produce an EV for the European market.
