Flint and Genesee CoC logoIdea Pitch Competition

FLINT, Mich, November 10, 2020 – 100K Ideas, in partnership with the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting the next Pitch For $K competition Thursday, November 12 at 5:30p.

Pitch For $K is designed to foster the entrepreneur mindset in our community along with creating an inclusive support system to assist individuals in moving their idea, product or business forward. 100K Ideas aspires to create a platform for innovators in Genesee County to refine their product, service or business while acquiring startup capital, building their networks and raising visibility of the talent that comes from our community.

This initiative could not be possible without the continued support and funding from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

The November competition will be the 2nd competition of the current series, and 5th competition overall. The seven finalists have been selected and are preparing to compete for up to $9,500 in prizes. Their preparation for the event includes working with mentors and the University of Michigan-Flint’s Innovation Incubator.

“Continuing this competition in the face of a pandemic has created an interesting challenge, but also proven to be necessary. We are excited to continue supporting emerging entrepreneurs as they work to move their ideas forward. We have found innovation does not simply stop because of what may be going on in the world, in a lot of cases, it thrives,” states Brandee Cooke-Brown, Executive Director of 100K Ideas.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has joined the Pitch For $K competition as a sponsor for this series. With their support, the People’s Choice Prize was added as an additional prize level that is exclusively determined by the viewing audience.

“As we work to recover from the ongoing pandemic, it is vital we continue providing opportunities for startups and entrepreneurs to grow and succeed here in Michigan,” said Fred Molnar, Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the MEDC. “We are grateful to support initiatives like these that provide critical resources to startups while demonstrating the resiliency and innovation of Michigan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

To attend the virtual competition, register through Pitch For $K’s Facebook page.
