United Food and Commercial Workers Union, based in Grand Rapids.  The state’s largest public sector labor union representing Meijer, Kroger, Rite Aid just to name a few.

This is a talk with their new Secretary-Treasurer Courtney Phillips about the end of right-to-work in Michigan; the impact of that and the threat of national right-to-work happening depending on who wins the presidential election.  Michigan is the only state to successfully flip right-to-work in 58 years so it’s a huge deal.

Collective Bargaining: Your Union at Work for You

Collective bargaining is the process in which working people, through their unions, negotiate contracts with their employers to determine their terms of employment, including pay, benefits, hours, leave, job health and safety policies, ways to balance work and family, and more. Collective bargaining is important because it allows unionized employees to advocate for their needs and define the terms of their employment.
