Child and Family Charities receives $500,000 for new services building

LANSING, MI – MSU Federal Credit Union will help make a difference for families and children through a $500,000 donation to Child and Family Charities’ (CFC) Be the Light capital campaign. The donation, made through the credit union’s Desk Drawer Fund, is allocated over the next five years to boost behavioral health, child abuse prevention, and children welfare services.

"The Desk Drawer Fund was created to support our community and its endeavors in meaningful ways, '' says Susi Elkins, MSUFCU Chief Community Impact Officer and Desk Drawer Fund President. “We are honored to help support the work that Child and Family Charities is doing every day to meet the needs of families in our region."

Child and Family Charities has provided hope and vital services to strengthen and support children, teens and families throughout mid-Michigan for over 110 years. The recent donation allows CFC to serve an additional 1,500 individuals per year as they continue to grow and expand their services.

"Right now, we reach 8,000 individuals in mid-Michigan and 15,000 statewide," said Julie Thomasma, Child and Family Charities CEO. "This new space allows us to do so much more and reach more youth who need us. This donation speaks volumes to MSUFCU's true commitment to their values and investing in children and families in this region."

Child and Family Charities serves 15,000 youth, children, and families through 30 programs and six divisions and continues to evolve and grow with the changing needs of the community. The Be the Light campaign helps raise funds to create a comprehensive, centralized located campus of services to provide a glimmer of hope for child, youth, and families facing challenges and hardships.
