Corporate donation to create The Jackson House on the former McLaren campus

LANSING, MI – Child and Family Charities in April officially launched its 2022 capital campaign, Be the Light, to build a comprehensive, centralized campus on the former Greater Lansing McLaren property.

The campaign will raise funds to transform a portion of the former hospital site on the city’s southside into a continuum-of-care hub to best meet the needs of today’s modern families. The $7 million projects received a major boost from longtime corporate partner Jackson National Life Insurance Company (Jackson®) and its associates, who donated $940,000 to underwrite the cost of The Jackson House, a dedicated home for youth who lack safe, stable housing.

"Jackson is grateful for its enduring relationship with Child and Family Charities and looks forward to supporting their important mission with donations and associate volunteerism for years to come,” said Danielle Robinson, Jackson’s assistance vice president, corporate philanthropy, and executive director of the Jackson Charitable Foundation. “We look forward to the meaningful impact The Jackson House will have on our community.”

Since 2006, Jackson has collectively donated over $1.3 million to Child and Family Charities and its associates have given close to $170,000. In addition to funds, the Jackson team has contributed 2,290 hours of volunteer services.

“Child and Family Charites is grateful for our longtime partnership with Jackson and their unwavering commitment to strengthening families and opportunities for those in our community,” said Julie Thomasma, CEO of Child and Family Charities. “From the ground up, Jackson’s commitment to the partnership is significant and resolute. Together, we will brighten the path for all who come to Child and Family Charities for life-enriching services.”

Each year, Child and Family Charities serves over 15,000 individuals of all ages and needs, providing them with all the support they need to reach stability and regain hope. Through its six divisions and 30 programs, the nonprofit organization works together in partnership with organizations like Jackson to address the needs of an ever-evolving community
