$100 Million in Small Business Grants Available for COVID-19 Recovery Efforts

The State of Michigan has appropriated $100 million of federal CARES Act funding through PA 123, signed into law by Governor Whitmer last week, to implement the Michigan Small Business Restart Program. Grants of up to $20,000 will support Michigan’s small businesses that are reopening and have experienced a loss of income as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.

 

Funding will be distributed by 15 local or nonprofit economic development organizations (EDOs) covering all 83 counties in the state. Applications will be live starting July 15, 2020, through Aug. 5, 2020.

 
 
 
 
$15 Million in Agricultural Safety Grants Provide Critical Relief to Michigan’s Farms and Food Processors
 
 

In response to the economic impact of COVID-19, the State of Michigan has appropriated $15 million of federal CARES Act funding through PA 123 to implement the Michigan Agricultural Safety Grant Program. These grants will provide critical funding to Michigan’s agricultural processors and farms to mitigate risks of the COVID-19 virus across the state’s food production industry. A total of $10 million in grants will be available to processors statewide, with $5 million going to farms statewide. Applications will go live beginning July 15, 2020 with funding awarded on a first come, first serve basis to eligible applicants.

 
 
 
 
PMBC COVID-19 Procurement Platform Connects Businesses with PPE Suppliers
 
 

Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC)’s COVID-19 Procurement Platform connects those businesses in need of non-medical grade personal protection equipment (PPE) - including face masks, face shields, gloves, goggles and other materials as necessary to ensure the health and safety of their employees and customers - with Michigan businesses that have supplier capacity to meet that demand. The portal is open to companies of all sizes and industries and is available for all scales of PPE demand.
