MBN on the Road | Capital Area Michigan Works! Joins Lansing Schools, Youth Solutions in Blood Drive

Friday, May 10th, Jeffrey Mosher was on the road to an event: Lansing School District and WIOA/JMG Youth Blood Drive, at Pattengill Biotech Magnet School, 815 Fairview Ave. Lansing, MI.

Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth programs are hosting a Blood Drive in Lansing, MI in partnership with Lansing School District, Capital Area Michigan Works! and Youth Solutions to support the American Red Cross.

JMG and WIOA are comprehensive programs for youth in and out of schools to help them identify a pathway toward education and employment success while overcoming individual barriers through mentoring, postsecondary education exploration and leadership development.

Students from the JMG and WIOA programs assisted in the coordination and execution of the event, including signing up donors at their respective schools, work experience placement sites and neighborhoods. Throughout the event, students will also act as ambassadors, greeting guests and talking about the value JMG and WIOA have had on their lives.

The blood drive took place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including a presentation
series from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. -- Which is the focus of this VIDEO.
 Speakers included:
● Carrie Rosingana, CEO of Capital Area Michigan Works!
● Youth Participants from JMG and WIOA
● Roger Curtis, Youth Solutions Executive Director
● Ben Shuldiner, Lansing Schools Superintendent
● Students sharing their story included Iesha Allen-White (JMG Sexton), and Cadence Jackson (JMG Sexton).

Kere Milow, Program Manager with Lansing School District in coordination with Capital Area Michigan Works! served as the emcee on the occasion.

They commented on the impacts of the JMG and WIOA programs, the value of giving back to the community and the necessity of partnerships to support our regional youth.
