Detroit Regional Chamber and Detroit Public TV offer highlights of past Mackinac Policy Conferences and ask panels of Michigan leaders how those moments can help move our state forward

For the past 39 years, statewide leaders have spent this week in May at the Mackinac Policy Conference on Mackinac Island, discussing Michigan’s critical issues and, in many cases, putting solutions into motion.
Unfortunately, the conference has been postponed this year because of the COVID-19 crisis. But this week the Detroit Regional Chamber and Detroit Public TV present some of the most memorable #MPCMoments, highlights of past conferences combined with live panels on the best ways to move Michigan forward, moderated by One Detroit’s Nolan Finley, Stephen Henderson and Christy McDonald.

The first session today will feature Mackinac Moments from Gov. Rick Snyder, offering has last Mackinac Policy Conference remarks as the state’s chief executive, and from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, offering her first.

They will be followed by an esteemed panel of Michigan leaders, moderated by One Detroit’s Nolan Finley, who will delve into how those speeches resonate today and what they mean for the state’s future.

  • Sandy K. Baruah, President and CEO, Detroit Regional Chamber
  • James Blanchard, Former Governor, State of Michigan
