Question: Tell me more about the Going PRO Talent Fund?

● The Going PRO Talent Fund, financed through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity,
is a fund that “makes awards to employers to assist in training, developing and retaining current and newly hired employees.”

○ The Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, Workforce Development (LEO-WD) awards funds to employers through
Michigan Works! Agencies (MWA), like Capital Area Michigan Works!.

○ MWA Business Services staff conduct fact-finding sessions with employers to assess their talent skill gaps, suitable training
providers and availability of federal funding sources.

Question: What types of employers are eligible for participation and what types of training programs are provided?

● Interested employees must meet the following criteria:

○ Be a permanent, full-time employee of the employer when the approved training begins.

○ Work primarily in Michigan, and for whom the employer pays all applicable taxes to the State of Michigan, regardless of where the employee lives.

○ 18 years of age or older.

○ Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.

● Training provided must fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer.

● Types of training include:

○ Classroom or customized training.

○ New employee on-the-job training.

○ Training for USDOL Registered Apprentices.

Question: Tell me more about CAMW!’s involvement and successes of the Going PRO Talent Fund?

● Out of the Talent Fund FY24 cycle 1 applications CAMW! Submitted:

○ 51 companies submitted 107 applications (3 Clinton, 15 Eaton, 36 Ingham).

○ $4.18 million requested.

○ 96 applications approved; $3.42 million (3 Clinton, 12 Eaton, 28 Ingham).

○ 1,816 full-time workers will be trained (692 current workers, 957 workers will be hired,
and 187 US DOL registered apprentices).
