Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan Reappoints Leadership

LANSING, Mich. – The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan is pleased to announce the unanimous decision to reappoint its leadership for another year, ensuring the continued dedication and expertise of its members in advancing the commission’s mission.

Elaine Hardy, the longest-serving chairperson in the MLK Commission's 40+ year history, has been unanimously approved to continue her invaluable leadership. Under Elaine's guidance, the commission has achieved remarkable milestones and made significant contributions to promoting equality, justice, and unity throughout mid-Michigan.

In addition to Elaine Hardy's reappointment as chair, the following individuals have also been reaffirmed in their positions: Tristan Wright, vice chair; Tony Baltimore, 1st vice chair; Kelli Ellsworth Etchison, secretary; and Steve Japinga, treasurer.

Their collective expertise, passion, and commitment will further strengthen the MLK Commission's mission to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and advocate for social justice, civil rights, and equal opportunities for all.

As the commission's leadership remains steadfast, the community can expect a seamless continuation of impactful initiatives and events. One such upcoming event is the 2024 MLK Day of Celebration, which will provide an opportunity for the community to reflect upon Dr. King's teachings and inspire positive change.
