Colliers Lansing lists iconic restaurant opportunity

LANSING, Mich. – For six decades, the DeLuca family has brought the authentic taste of Italian pizza to Lansing, serving as a destination restaurant for locals and visitors.

The current owners of DeLuca’s Restaurant, brothers John, Thomas, and Charles DeLuca, have put the building at 2006 W. Willow St. on the market with Colliers Lansing.

“We’ve built a sense of community here and have enjoyed years of getting to know our neighborhood and our regulars,” said John DeLuca. “We started out with nothing and we built it into something. It’s very hard to leave it behind, but the stories I’m hearing from people – it's just quite touching.”

DeLuca’s is a second-generation family business started in 1960 as Willow Bar, a neighborhood bar for nearby factory workers. The pizza at Willow Bar became so popular that the business changed directions, focusing on pizza and switching the name to DeLuca’s Restaurant.

The three brothers bought DeLuca’s from their father in 1981 and continued the DeLuca’s legacy of delicious food served by a friendly family. DeLuca’s won a slew of awards and recognitions over the years, losing count of how many consecutive years the business earned awards through the Best of Lansing.

DeLuca’s is a 7,910-square-foot highly maintained building offering dining rooms, a separate bar, and food prep areas and it’s a very notable location in the greater Lansing area. The site offers a great opportunity for another restaurant owner. The site also offers ample parking.

“The building is in great shape and while it seats over 225 guests, it’s also set up for the tremendous takeout business volume which has obviously taken off since COVID-19,” said Shawn O’BrienCCIM vice president at Colliers Lansing. “It’s sad to see such a beloved institution go, but we’re excited for the what the future holds at this restaurant site, we have had significant interest in the opportunity already."

Ideally the new owner would keep a similar restaurant, John DeLuca said.
