July_26_28_Logo-1-e1533234312951-1One of the special elements of Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s is our Automotive Heritage Awards presented in the Brembo Media Hospitality Tent on the show field at 10AM Sunday, show day, just as they are opening to the public. Your host here on 'A Shunpiker’s Journal', Steve Purdy, is the creator and producer of the project and spends this segment previewing the event.

AHA

Steve shares how they present four distinct award programs: The Automotive Heritage Concept Vehicle of the Year juried by members of the Society of Automotive Historians; the National Automotive History Collection’s Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year; the Automotive Heritage Journalism Competition with 10 categories judged by A-list journalists from around the country; and, the most important, we think, is the Automotive Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award. Trophies for the awards are created by Alex Buchan, one of the most accomplished automotive fine are sculptors in the country. The Lifetime Achievement permanent trophy is a bust of Louis Chevrolet on a large walnut base with all the previous winner’s names engraved thereon and is being inducted into the LeMay - America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA.
