'Skiable Feast’ Kick Off is Saturday, January 11th Eat, Drink, Ski, Repeat – A Trail Adventure Fit for Everyone!

Paul Beachnau, Executive Director at Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau and Susan Wilcox Olson Principal of Grand Bay Promotions and Media Manager at National Cherry Festival join Chris Holman in the studio to discuss a bit about how Treetops Resort & Gaylord are Celebrating Winter.

Treetops Resort, ‘Michigan’s Most Spectacular Winter Playground’ is once again embracing the upcoming winter season with a gourmet adventure named Skiable Feast for a reason.  Back by popular demand for the seventh season, the Skiable Feast is filled with foodie fun and is hosted trailside.  Guests will enjoy the main campus trail adventure – one that is fit for everyone one to enjoy – winter novice to expert.

Listen to full interview below!

After getting fueled up with a hearty Western Scramble Bake accompanied by Mimosas and an assortment of other drink options, the trail will begin just outside of the Skier Services building circling the base of the downhill slopes allowing participants to see the slopes being prepared for the day just prior to the lifts beginning to turn.

Guests will then enjoy the gentle and flat "Potato Railroad" aptly named because it was "in-fact" once a railroad grade.  Trains will not be seen but, rather snow covered branches as guests make their way towards the 7th, 8th and 9th holes of the award winning Robert Trent Jones "Masterpiece" golf course that screams beauty just as much in the winter time as it does in the summer.

Gaylord-Area-Convention-and-Tourism-Bureau-logoSoon after, guests will approach a tree-lined path taking them over a natural spring leading to a beautiful 40 acre parcel of open land.  After a stop for a bite on this open parcel, skiers and snowshoers will be back on "Potato Railroad" and headed for their return on the homestretch and turns you toward the extreme tubing run and eventually back up the driving range where you'll be greeted with a gentle climb to finish the day.

Beyond the trail adventure for Cross-Country Skiers and Snowshoe Enthusiasts – there’s outdoor food and drink experiences along the way – Delicious and Tummy Warming!

When doing Bavarian things, you might as well eat Bavarian food.  A foodie showstopper on the 2020 Skiable Feast is our Beef Tenderloin Stroganoff served with Spatzle.  The Treetops Resort Culinary team is preparing for a progressive experience highlighting five stations each uniquely themed and appropriately placed along the journey.  Guests will find stations to warm them early on this adventure as well as a fueling station to provide energy for the homestretch all preparing them for the final feast featuring a salad course and entrée course as well as everybody's favorite ending.....desserts.  The greatest Outdoor Culinary Experience for guests of all ages and trail expertise to enjoy.
