WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (D-MI) and Rob Portman (R-OH), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, announced they will hold a hearing titled “Prevention, Response, and Recovery: Improving Federal Cybersecurity Post-SolarWinds” on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 10:00 AM. The hearing will be the second to examine last year’s SolarWinds hack, other subsequent breaches, and how the federal government can better protect agency information systems from breaches that compromise national security. The hearing will also discuss current requirements for sharing information about cyber breaches across the federal government and with Congress.
The committee will hear testimony from federal information security officers on what resources and reforms are needed to help mitigate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and combat foreign adversaries, such as the Chinese and Russian governments, from breaching federal systems.

· Ryan A. Higgins, Chief Information Security Officer, U.S. Department of Commerce; and
· Janet Vogel, Chief Information Security Officer, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
