Run Anywhere Your Feet Take You, While Supporting Mid-Michigan Families.

Jeffrey Mosher speaks with Carolyn Hurst, Executive Director of RMHMM along with Taylor Moberg, Community Development Specialist;  Lauren Kotlarczyk, Assistant Vice President of Community Development; and Chelsea Schaberg, Assistant Vice President of Human Resources from MSUFCU to find out about this year's run, and the support from the title sponsor.

Since 2001, the Run for the House has raised thousands of dollars to give families of seriously ill children a warm, safe place to stay. Pre-COVID the event attracted more than 1,000 runners each year. Numbers to rival that will be safely spread across three days at the title sponsor host site, along with wherever the participants care to accomplish the event.

Listen to Carolyn, Taylor, Lauren and Chelsea share with Jeffrey about this year's event!

Run Where Your Feet Take You
The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan and MSU Federal Credit Union Offering Two Ways to Run at the 2021 Run for the House

EAST LANSING, Mich. — This time last year, the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan and title sponsor MSU Federal Credit Union geared up to celebrate the House’s 20th anniversary with a new course and schedule of events for the 2020 Run for the House. Unfortunately, the House cancelled that race in order to ensure the health and safety of their community. This year, the Run will take place anywhere jogger’s feet will take them, with a three-day virtual race and open course options, on March 26-28, 2021.

“At the Ronald McDonald House, it’s our job to care for caregivers and families during some of the hardest times in their lives — and the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t an exception,” said Carolyn Hurst, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan. “That’s why last year, we decided to cancel our usual, in-person Run. We made that decision with the health and safety of our community in mind, and that’s been our priority as we’ve planned for the 2021 Run for the House as well.”

The 2021 Run for the House has two race options for participants to choose from: a virtual, run anywhere option and an open course at MSUFCU’s Headquarters in East Lansing.

The open course offers runners the opportunity to run their chosen 5K or 10K at a pre-marked course. When registering, runners will choose a “corral” or timeframe they’d like to run sometime over the three-day race period. Each corral is capped at 50 participants to keep participants safe and socially-distanced.

“The Run for the House is a wonderful way for MSUFCU employees, their families and community members to safely get outside while supporting a fantastic organization,” said Whitney Anderson-Harrell, MSUFCU’s chief community development officer. “We are proud and honored to be the title sponsor of this unique event, which ties in with our core value of giving back to the community.”

Those who wish to run at home on their treadmill, around their neighborhood or in their favorite park will also be able to select the virtual race option and run any time over the three-day period. Registration for the Run for the House event is open now through March 28, 2021. Participants must register before March 5 if they’d like a race t-shirt and packet delivered to their home for race day; participants must register before March 15 if they’d like a race packet without a shirt for race day.

“We’re grateful for the runners, corporate partners, community members and the families we serve for continuing to support us throughout the pandemic, as we’ve continued to serve families in the mid-Michigan region,” Hurst said. “We hope you can join us, whether you’re at home on your treadmill or socially-distant on MSUFCU’s trails.“

The 2021 Run for the House is sponsored by: MSU Federal Credit Union, Foster Swift, Auto-Owners Insurance, Blue Cross Complete, Emergent BioSolutions, CATA, Siena Wealth Advisors, Jackson National, Budget Blinds of Charlotte, Mountain Bike Michigan, Maner Costerisan, Hawk Hollow Golf Course, Eagle Eye Golf Course, Adams Outdoor Advertising, BRD Printing, Piper & Gold Public Relations and McDonald’s.
