Grand Rapids, Michigan –

Gateway Pediatric Therapy, the premier center for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the single most effective way for individuals to overcome the challenges of an autism spectrum disorder, has opened its first West Michigan clinic and 9th Michigan location, to meet the growing need within the state. The 2,760 square foot space, located at 346 68th Street SW, Kentwood, MI 49548, is currently accepting new patients, offering fully customized treatment plans utilizing their 6 private therapy rooms, as well as in-home services amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Led by Grand Rapids native, Lisa Bingham, the new Gateway Pediatric Therapy clinic will offer essential ABA services, deeply rooted in developing treatment plans that target each child’s needs.

Lisa Bingham“Children with autism should never be without the help they need to fulfill their own unique potential, and families of these children should have access to the necessary supports,” said Lisa Bingham (left), Grand Rapids Regional Clinical Director and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). “Due to COVID-19, the 2020 school year and learning is being conducted much differently and our parents are concerned, rightfully so. We are stepping in to support with distance learning, modified schedules, and other support to get families through a non-traditional school year.”

ABA therapy is recognized as a highly effective treatment for children and is deeply rooted in the scientific principles of learning and behavior. Gateway Pediatric Therapy ABA practitioners apply individualized treatment plans for each child which are intended to bring about meaningful outcomes, behaviors, and foundational skills such as listening and communicating.

We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality ABA therapy to families in each community we serve,” said Bingham. “Over the past several years we have had the privilege of fulfilling this mission throughout metro Detroit, but our commitment to service doesn’t stop there. Our aim is to offer West Michigan families the same standards  of quality care our clients throughout the U.S. have come to expect, and we couldn’t think of a better place to begin than Grand Rapids.

“We are humbled to do our part in meeting this need and assuring West Michigan families they are not alone. It is a thrill to return home to my community. I am greatly looking forward to supporting it in any way I can.”

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the team at Gateway Pediatric Therapy has worked at reduced capacity within the clinic. The team continues to follow safety protocol and guidelines by implementing increased sanitation through the clinic. Staff members are required to wear face masks and maintain physical distance between one another while in the office. Daily health screenings and temperature checks of both employees and clients are also enforced.

“Our intake team is ready to answer any questions that you may have regarding how we are able to deliver therapy in our “new normal” world,” said Bingham. “We readily work with families to schedule tours, intake appointments, and/or assessments via telehealth.”

Families interested are encouraged to contact the clinics during regular business hours. From there, a client relations specialist will be able to answer questions and arrange a tour or intake for families. The Gateway team encourages an open line of communication between the family and care team to help ensure the best recommendations for treatment can be made and met.

Gateway Pediatric Therapy has plans to continue its expansion throughout Michigan in the coming year. Alongside its Kentwood location, Gateway recently established locations in Shiawassee and Genesee Counties with intentions to expand to Georgia in the coming year.
