Following the recent postponement of an event, the Sparrow Guild decided to make up for it with a virtual event on December 3rd. (That has now been moved to 12:30 pm today December 2nd)

At the suggestion of the Sparrow Foundation, Chris Holman takes some time with Sue Patterson, President of the Sparrow Guild, Lansing, MI.

To watch Sue, and Chris' discussion of the original  please click play on the YouTube Video below:

Sue shares with Chris about the upcoming Precision Medicine Symposium on December 3.(NOW DECEMBER 2nd).

This virtual event is replacing the T.G.I.F. event that was supposed to happen Friday, November 5th, but got canceled, unfortunately, due to COVID.

This symposium is free for anyone to attend and will feature two of Sparrow Health System's amazing doctors from the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center:

Gordon Srkalovic, M.D., PhD, FACP Director of Clinical Trials &

Harsha Trivedi, RN, PhD Assistant Director of Clinical Trials.

Sparrow discusses how precision medicine

is a game-changer for cancer patients

What: Sparrow is the first midsize community hospital and the only hospital from Michigan to be part of a national trial on genomics and precision medicine for breast cancer. Sparrow is a leader in precision medicine, which is a personalized approach to cancer care in which treatment is based on the specific characteristics of an individual’s tumor, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Genomics could drive nearly all healthcare decisions in years to come. The Sparrow Hospital Guild is sponsoring a free virtual symposium at 12:30 a.m. on, Dec. 2, at Sparrow.org/PMSymposium. Gordan Srkalovic, M.D., the Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center’s clinical trials director, will discuss the symposium, Sparrow’s leading-edge medicine, and highly skilled physicians, and what a game-changer precision medicine is for cancer patients.

You can learn more at [Sparrow.org/PMSymposium] Sparrow.org/PMSymposium!

Precision medicine is gaining traction in cancer care; we anticipate that genomics will drive nearly all healthcare decisions in the years to come. It is important to us at Sparrow to be able to provide this world-class, state-of-the-science care close to home.

Please RSVP today and join us for a look into what this program provides for Sparrow's patients and our community.

Your generous donations will be impactful and gratefully accepted as a commitment to Precision Medicine. Funding for the Precision Medicine program is made possible through the generosity of our community. These dollars support advanced equipment and technology, resources, and more.

The Sparrow Hospital Guild has a remarkable 97-year history supporting healthcare at Sparrow. With a deep focus on education, they invite you to join them for this special seminar to learn more about what Precision Medicine is. You’ll discover what treating cancer in a tailored manner, using someone’s genetics, environment, symptoms, and other factors that make the disease-specific to each individual means for Sparrow’s patients.

The Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center offers the largest set of clinical trial programs in the region, treating cancer of all types from breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and many others including rare cancers.
