In the interview Jeffrey looks to find out from Betty about:

Betty, can you share your career trajectory leading up to your current role as Advisor Emerita with Michigan State University East Lansing, Michigan?

What should the business community across Michigan know about these services?

Betty, we understand you have a heart for youth and philanthropy across the community, what groups are you involved with?

Betty also shared the following about an upcoming fundraiser.

The Board of Directors of the Uplift Our Youth Foundation is pleased to be hosting our 20th Annual Grant Awards and Fundraising Event on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 7:00 pm. Because COVID-19 numbers continue to fluctuate, while restrictions are becoming more relaxed; and inasmuch as we value our close relationships, the UOYF Board of Directors is committed to keeping everyone in our community safe. Therefore, our annual event will again remain virtual.

We are, however, very excited to honor two deserving members of the greater Lansing community who advocate for youth. Our legacy honoree is awarded to retired State of Michigan employee and youth advocate, Ernie Boone, Sr., and our 2022 youth advocate is Terrance Cooper, cofounder of People Ready Activating Youth. We will also spotlight three youth who are excelling towards excellence, Benjamin G. Brown, Okemos High School; David Ferguson, East Lansing High School; and Kianna Tucker, Okemos High School.

As valued community business, we are asking for your support. Your tax-deductible donation will go towards grants to organizations whose purpose is to support programs in the arts, career training, education and other interdisciplinary activities in Clinton, Ingham, and Eaton counties. Each contribution will support activities which enhance opportunities for young people. To date, we have awarded over $195,000 in grants to community focused organizations. This can only happen through the good will of supporters like you.

Please make your check payable to the Uplift Our Youth Foundation, P.O. Box 70099, Lansing, Michigan 48890.

Thank you in advance for your contribution. It means so much to support and uplift our youth, while together we build the tri-county area into a strong community.

With gratitude, Betty J Sanford, Board Member
Fred Ford, Chair
Larry L. Leatherwood, Chair Emeritus
