The Chelsea Lumber Company has been a bedrock of this southeastern Michigan community for over a century. The company dates back to 1908 and has been owned in all or in part by the Daniels Family since the 1920's. Starting as the Chelsea Lumber, Grain & Coal Co. it was headquartered in a 3 story brick building at the corner of Main Street and the railroad tracks, which is now the site of Chelsea Milling Company, makers of the popular Jiffy Mix. President and Co-Owner, the late Bob Daniels, began working part time, shoveling coal, while a student at Chelsea High School in the 1940's. In those days, the company motto was "Where the Home Begins" and it remains the same to this day.

Vic Verchereau catches up with today's President, John Daniels who recounts the many challenges and triumphs as an independent lumber company and prepares to welcome the 4th generation to the family business.
