ASSOCIATION FOR CORPORATE GROWTH WESTERN MICHIGAN & MINNESOTA CHAPTERS PARTNER ON HOSTING VIRTUAL ACG CUP COMPETITION

Chapters expect even greater participation from university students, volunteer judges, and company representatives in the second virtual ACG Cup, a three-round, world-class business case competition

Grand Rapids, MI November 2021 –  Two Midwestern ACG chapters will partners to broaden the scope of the largest ACG Cup competition in North America. Prize money in the amount of $6,000 will be awarded to the winning team in each division, and team registration opens on December 1, 2021.

ACG Western Michigan pioneered a successful virtual case competition in the first months of 2021, drawing in 39 competing teams from business, finance, and accounting students from Michigan, New York, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas. The 2021 competition’s expansion afforded West Michigan the opportunity to expose more talent to our market and professionals in our community to talent outside the region. Leadership at ACG Minnesota recognized the boon the virtual competition could offer to their community and have agreed to join Western Michigan in hosting the ACG Cup 2022 competition in February and March.

The ACG Cup affords student competitors with real-world M&A experience and allows them to build a skillset outside of the classroom. As one 2021 competitor related: “I would have had no other way to get exposure to M&A in my college experience. This was a great opportunity.”

The competition will also welcome volunteer judges in commercial and investment banking, corporate law, private equity, and valuation firms from both regions, thereby offering the student competitors even more connections and opportunities. Past ACG Cup judges agree that “ACG Cup is the competition to make your resume stand out,” and that the competition is “more than just a finance competition – it’s a step toward a career.” ACG Cup competitors often graduate with more job options than their peers, thanks to the collaborative nature of the competition’s structure and positive connections developed with area professionals.

ACG Western Michigan’s ACG Cup Competition has long been hailed as the premier ACG Cup competition across North America’s 54 chapters, and we are invigorated by the upcoming partnership with ACG Minnesota to engage even more with our talent pool.
