Unemployment and How Organizations Can Keep Talent

Michigan Business Beat
August 17, 2018 1:00 PM

CAMW! logo-1Edythe Hatter-Williams, CEO of Capital Area Michigan Works! speaks with Chris Holman about today's unemployment and how organizations can keep their talent. This includes, updating job postings regularly, keeping your business creative and innovative, sign-up bonuses, and paying off employees student loans.

Tips provided by CAMW!
1. Update your job postings regularly. If not done daily, job openings should be updated
weekly. Pure Michigan Talent Connect is a great resource for interested candidates to apply  through. It connects job seekers and employers in several industries ranging from health care, to IT and almost every industry in between.

2. Stay proactive and have a plan. Have a tight timeline of when interviews will begin and
end and when a decision needs to be made by. Be sure to follow this plan to get the position
filled as quickly as possible. Always take down job listings once a position has been filled.

3. Keep interviewees in the loop. Don’t leave a candidate hanging just because a decision
hasn’t been made yet. Be sure to update them while the hiring process is moving forward to
show that they are still being thought of and that you are a resource for questions if needed.
This reflects well on a company’s culture to the candidate.
