LANSING, Mich. – The Information Technology Empowerment Center (ITEC) is pleased to partner with the Broad Student Senate on the Road to Broad 5k, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 25, on Michigan State University’s campus. The race begins and ends at the Auditorium Building on Farm Lane Road, and all the proceeds from the race will benefit ITEC.

Participants can run or walk the race, which is followed by an awards ceremony and snacks. Registration for the event is open until March 23, 2018 ($25 for the public and $20 for MSU students with ID). “The Broad Student Senate is excited to play host for alumni, faculty, students, and members of the greater Lansing area on the Road to Broad 5K. All proceeds from the race will be donated directly to ITEC. We are excited for many more years of this great partnership.”,” said Yoodong Hwang, organizer of the Road to Broad 5k. “We chose ITEC as our beneficiary this year because their programming is promoting student success in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) throughout the Lansing community.”

Through the partnership, ITEC will be presenting the top racers with medals, discussing the impact of the Road to Broad partnership on ITEC’s students, and providing closing remarks. “We are pleased to spotlight the Road to Brad 5k,” said Kirk Riley, executive director of ITEC. “The student senate has put in so much work organizing this event, and we are grateful to implement the proceeds from the race into courses that build student excitement for careers in STEM."

ITEC offers year-round after-school STEM-focused programming for children in metro-Lansing schools and community centers. Classes include 3D Printing, Lego Robotics, Coding, and much more. Children in kindergarten to ninth grade are welcome to sign up for classes. ITEC is headquartered the Foster Community Center and partners with multiple schools and other community centers throughout the Capital Region. For more information, visit www.iteclansing.org.
